Request & Pick Up

Know what you want? Search the library catalog and request the item. We’ll let you know when it’s ready to pick up.

You are welcome to pick up your items inside the library or use our curbside service.

If you search the  catalog and what you want isn’t available right now, you can request it, join the wait list, and we’ll let you know when it’s ready for you to check out.

Inside the library

At our Main Library, look for your items in the Holds pickup area by the Checkout desk (see  map). At our Douglass Branch, ask at the desk.

How does curbside pickup work?

• Request an item using our catalog or app.
• Wait until we notify you by email or text that your items are ready.
• Schedule your pickup time using our scheduling tool. You’ll get an email confirming your appointment.
• Call when you arrive.You are welcome to drive, bike, or walk up! For contactless pickup, open the trunk from inside your vehicle.
  

If we don’t own what you want

We’d be glad to consider buying newer items. Use our Suggest a Purchase form.

Need to cancel an item on hold?

 Have your library card number handy and contact us at 217/403-2000 or accountinfo@champaign.org; it’s a nice courtesy for others who may be waiting.

Suspend requests

Don’t want requested items to arrive while you’re on vacation? Or don’t want all of your requests arriving at once? “Suspend” requests to a later date.

• Log in to your library account and click Requests.
• Check the box beside each item to suspend. Click the Suspend/Reactivate Selected button.
• Enter a new activation date. You’ll be put back on the waiting list on that date. Click Submit.
• If you want to suspend all of your requests at once, click the Suspend/Reactivate All button, enter a new activation date, and click Submit
