The beautiful Douglass Branch Library stands in Douglass Park, just west of Booker T. Washington STEM Academy in north Champaign. The Douglass Branch offers free events for all ages, Chromebooks to check out, public computers with internet access, a large meeting room and The Makerspace. As a part of the same collection as the Main Library, the Douglass Branch focuses on curating materials by African American writers, thinkers, and creatives.
We offer both baby and toddler story times during the week at the Douglass Branch.
Afterschool activities like DIY Kids and Club Fred in the school year and drop-in activities in the summer.
Join our casual monthly gatherings to talk about books by contemporary African American writers. Table Talk Book Club meets at 6:30 pm on the second Tuesday of the month. New members are always welcome. Call 217.403.2090 for more information.
In addition to our Makerspace rotating workshops, creative individuals are welcome to join us for Yarn & Shenanigans, Coffee and a Craft , or our Friday Night Jam Sessions.
